Zwischendorf

Imagine this: a village suddenly appears in the middle of the neighborhood. Not a village of houses, but of games, ideas and open ears.

At the Erdenbehörde (Earth Office), children apply for their own “Earth Passport”.

Here neighbors and residents of the shelter meet to chat, laugh and try new things together. Welcome to Zwischendorf!

The Zwischendorf project is in full swing, and we are absolutely delighted by all the creative participation we have experienced so far!

Our Zwischendorf activities aim to create encounters through fun, playful and creative activities developed together with people from the Salvador Allende community accommodation. We ask ourselves: What do we want for our neighbourhood? What connects us? And what do we need from one another?

“Because right now we need places where people meet one another instead of talking about one another.”

A village full of surprises

Our self-invented village is full of surprises and is constantly being built and reimagined. We experiment and create small, imaginative places.

For example, there is a giant open heart where passers-by can leave messages of solidarity and pour their hearts out.

A little further on, you arrive at the Consulate of the Earth, where anyone can apply for their own “Earth Passport” and take it home with them. We have also built a “Transnational Foosball Table”, where the teams were more diverse than ever. We are also making giant flags carrying messages of love, solidarity and togetherness. And sometimes there is even stilt walking in our in-between streets.

A large red fabric installation under a tree, with children and adults looking inside.

The mobile swap shop by Trial and Error e. V. visits us from time to time. There, you can find and exchange beautiful clothes.

New ideas are always welcome in the Zwischendorf: with Patricia, for example, you could build your own kites and decorate them using screen printing.

And along the way, there is delicious homemade chai from Fadi and waffles from Carlotta. And, of course, we must not forget the great live music!

Little by little, a small village of possibilities, dreams and togetherness is growing. There may still be only a few inhabitants in this village, but their hospitality is immense. We hope that more and more people will join us and become part of the Zwischendorf.

We’re making the village mobile

On October 3 and 10, the Zwischendorf will continue to grow: we are making the village mobile so that, on October 17, we can take it through the streets of the Allende neighbourhood as part of the “Carasol” parade!

For this, we are still looking for fun props, crazy ideas and creative interventions.

Do you have an idea? Come and join us! Questions? Feel free to write to us with ideas, suggestions or feedback!
